First Communion

First CommunionFirst Communion for Fifth Graders is held on All Saints Sunday, which is always the First Sunday in November. The children receive their First Communion at the 10:00 AM Worship Service at whichever location the family attends. The children wear white gowns and are invited forward at the beginning of the Eucharist along with their families. Preparation for First Communion consists of the children, along with at least one parent, attending two classes on the meaning of the Holy Sacrament especially designed for the fifth grade level. These classes are offered on the two Saturdays prior to All Saints Sunday.

Confirmation

Who: 7th and 8th Graders

When: 6:30pm Wednesday Nights

Confirmation is a Lutheran Rite of passage. It is a two year program of instruction for Seventh and Eighth Graders, taught by the Pastors and Intern Pastors. The Rite of Confirmation is always held at the 10:00 AM Worship Service on Reformation Sunday, which is always the Last Sunday in October. Thus, the young people go through the Confirmation Program during their seventh and eighth grades and are confirmed in the Fall of their ninth grade.

The 2011 - 2012 Confirmation Year will begin on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Class will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:15, in the Administrative Conference Room at the East Mesa Campus. This year the focus will be on the Bible, both the Old Testament and the New Testament. We rotate each year between the Bible and the Catechism. Click here for the 2011 - 2012 Confirmation Schedule.
